Simply stated, cheerfulness is looking on the bright side of things. It is a virtue rooted in hope, faith, and the joy in the Resurrection, rather than just a natural temperament. It signifies a deep, sustained trust in God’s mercy, allowing believers to maintain joy, serve others, and find peace - even during suffering or difficult circumstances. Congratulations to our student and teacher recipients.

CW Cheerfulness
St. Mary's Elementary School celebrated our first annual Day of Service! Though the goal moving forward is to plan field trips during which our students will be outside of the classroom, helping in their community, our inaugural event took place in the Parish Center. In the PC, students prayed together, made sandwiches and notes of kindness for St. Luke's Mission, crafted Easter placemats for residents of local nursing homes, and prepared Baptism gifts and cards to be given to children and adults in our family of parishes. Our school community participated in a wonderful day serving others!

We are so excited to launch this Winter's session of our EXCEL (Experiential, Collaborative, and Engaging Learning) Learning Clubs! Here, enjoy photos of some of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students using straws as a weaving look to make bookmarks in Mrs. Pesany-Au's Fiber Arts - Weaving Club.

In our EXCEL Learning Clubs, students have the opportunity to learn alongside students from other grades with teachers from throughout the building. As they learn that learning is more than studying a textbook or memorizing flashcards, students grow relationships with peers from multiple grade levels and with new teachers. In these ways, EXCEL helps grow the community of our school as much as it evolves our curricula and academic offerings.

Dear Families,

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

We still plan to host our Catholic Schools Week Kickoff Mass. Students who are attending are asked to wear their SME school uniform, so that parishioners may identify them as SME students. If your son or daughter will be volunteering in mass, it would be great if they could be to the church around 9:45.

**Please make the decision that is best for your family.** We do not know the weather conditions near your home. If driving to and from St. Mary's is anything but safe, please stay home. Do not put yourself in harm's way to participate in this mass.

Stay safe, stay warm, and we hope to see many at mass at 10:00.

Patience is a moral virtue that enables us to endure hardships with a calm, positive spirit. It involves trusting in God’s plan and accepting struggles as opportunities for spiritual growth and closeness to God. Patience is more than just waiting; it is seeing trials as pathways to holiness, modeled by Jesus and cultivated through prayer. Thank you to all students and teachers who demonstrated patience over the past months - and throughout all of their months at St. Mary's.
