GENERATIONS OF FAITH:
SHARING FAITH TOGETHER AS FAMILIES

St. Mary’s is entering our sixth year with a faith-learning experience designed to enable both adults (young and older) and children to share and learn about their faith life together. The model envisioned includes all our families – but especially those with children and young adults (1st grade to seniors in high school).

As parents/guardians who have young people in our elementary school here at St. Mary’s, you know that they receive regular instructions in the Catholic religion each week. They also share the Eucharist weekly with their teachers usually on Friday mornings and with you each weekend. But when do you find opportunities to share what your faith means to you as parents with your children? This is the idea guiding out Generations of Faith sessions. Some aspect of our Catholic experience is explored in such ways that each member of the family can learn, listen and share with each other.

Children who attend our public schools are enrolled in our parish religious education programs which meet on Saturday mornings and Sunday and Tuesday evenings. These provide religious instruction appropriate to their age/class years.

Separate sacramental programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation are designed to prepare all candidates with the help of their parents for reception of each sacrament. These sessions are separate from any religious instruction they regularly attend.

Generations of Faith is also a separate program designed for all our families – those with children here at our St. Mary’s Elementary School, those with young adults attending one of our Catholic High Schools and those with children in one of our local public schools. I hope that you will consider Generations of Faith as an opportunity to enrich your own faith life, your children’s and other members of St. Mary’s faith community. Those who have children here at St. Mary’s and belong to other parish communities are also invited to these sessions.
